Meet the Board of Directors
Amy Jo Sites, MPA, CAWA
President
In 2004, Amy-Jo joined FWACC, completing her Master of Public Affairs the following year. Her commitment to professional excellence culminated in earning her Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) credential in 2015, followed by her appointment as Director in 2016. In this leadership role, she oversees the largest open-access municipal shelter in northeast Indiana and spearheads impactful initiatives, including robust community partnerships that drive adoptions and a managed owner-surrender program that keeps pets with their families. She also guides the agency’s ordinance enforcement and state-level animal cruelty investigations. Amy-Jo has served as the President of the Indiana Coalition of Animal Welfare Professionals since 2022.
Kendall Paul, MPA, CAWA
Vice President
Kendall Paul is the CEO of the Vanderburgh Humane Society in Evansville, IN. She has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Southern Indiana. She earned her Certificate in Fundraising from the Indiana University School of Philanthropy.
She is the Vice President of the Indiana Coalition of Animal Welfare Professionals. She has been with the VHS for more than 30 years, where she has served as the CEO since 2005. She has led the organization through times of growth and transformation, including the addition of their low cost, spay & neuter clinic, the opening of Happy Tails Resale Shop, and the acquisition of River Kitty Cat Café. During her tenure, the VHS live release rate has gone from 41% to 93%.
Kendall is married with two adult children. Her current pets include, two Boston Terriers, The Dude and Sir Duncan the Tall; her cat Samwise; and Severus the ball python who she shares and office with at the VHS.
Rob LaRoy
Secretary
Rob LaRoy has served as Executive Director of the Humane Society of Elkhart County since October 2018, bringing more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience. Under his leadership, HSEC has experienced significant growth, increasing annual revenue from $1.3 million to $3.5 million while expanding programs and services to better serve animals and the community.
Throughout his career, Rob has held key leadership roles across multiple states. He served as President of the Michigan State Association of Big Brothers Big Sisters and later as Chairman of the Tennessee State Alliance of YMCAs during his 14-year tenure with the YMCA. He currently serves as Secretary of the Indiana Coalition of Animal Welfare Professionals.
Rob earned a Bachelor of Arts from Adrian College and holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Grace College.
Rob is the father of five mostly grown children. At home, he enjoys time with his two dogs, Bo
Shembarkler, a Goldendoodle, and Riley, a German Shepherd.
Jessica Henry-Johnson, BA
The executive director of Humane Fort Wayne since 2012, Jessica Henry-Johnson has overseen a 500% increase in annual adoption numbers and successfully led two mergers – resulting in the creation of northeast Indiana’s most comprehensive animal welfare organization. Jessica also is an instrumental part of both state and local coalitions of animal welfare leaders who meet regularly to discuss issues and effect advancements for animals.
In 2015 Humane Fort Wayne introduced the broadest pet retention programming in the state of Indiana, offering everything from free pet food distribution and quarterly vaccine clinics to pet deposit/rental assistance, low cost veterinary care, in-home services, and emergency temporary fostering. In all, Humane Fort Wayne serves more than 30,000 pets and their owners per year from three campuses.
She successfully completed a $13.5MM capital campaign and oversaw the construction of Humane Fort Wayne’s state-of-the-art facility which opened in the summer of 2024.
Jessica has a BA in Public Relations from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana and shares her home with her artist-husband, Nate, three dogs, and one very beautiful cat.
Donna Casamento
Donna Casamento is a leader in the national animal welfare community, known as an innovator in developing public/private partnerships. Working for both local and national organizations, Donna has helped to create lifesaving programs and initiatives as an Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Program Officer.
In August of 2022, Donna joined Indy Humane following a national search by the Indy Humane Board of Directors. A Midwest native, Donna is thrilled to be in Indiana and brings her expertise to help Indy Humane move to the next level of lifesaving. Together with the great team at Indy Humane, they are focusing on ensuring that Indy Humane is financially sustainable in the years to come, along with furthering their mission by increasing adoptions, continuing to build our Pet Resource Center to help keep families together and prevent shelter surrender, and looking to the community to assess the needs and where Indy Humane can be of the most service to the people and animals.Donna is also a founding member of Operation Indy Animals and The Indiana Coalition of Animal Welfare Professionals, organizations created to further collaboration among animal welfare organizations locally and statewide.
Donna, along with other national leaders in animal welfare, was recently featured in a book by Cathy M. Rosenthal titled Humane Perspectives: Leadership in Animal Welfare.
Donna has two adult children, one who lives in California and the other in Florida. She shares her home in Indianapolis with three cats, Bigby, Mozart, and Atticus.
Jessica Greer, LSHC-S, SBA
Jessica Greer has served as Humane Indiana’s Senior Director of Shelter and Clinic Operations for nearly 10 years. Jessica has been working in animal welfare for 12 years. She previously served as the Deputy Director/Animal Control Officer for Lake County, Indiana and the Volunteer Coordinator for Humane Indiana, and Shelter Director for Humane Indiana. Under her leadership, Humane Indiana’s Shelter has implemented Capacity for Care protocols, reduced length of stay averages by more than 50%, upgraded animal housing and ensured all animals have double sided caging, remodeled the main dog kennels, implemented safety net crisis foster programs for pet owners in times of trauma, created alternatives to surrender diversion programs to keep pets with families, created a canine socialization program for at-risk youth at the juvenile detention center, and implemented a community cat return to field policy. Jessica also re-opened the Humane Indiana’s Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic as a high-volume spay/neuter clinic and implemented Community Medicine Clinic days to serve low-income families with pets.
Jessica holds a Shelter Behavior Affiliate title with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and is Low Stress Handling Certified. She is also NACA ACO I & II certified as well as REDI certified.
Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 kids, and our pets, 2 dogs and 1 cat.
